History

The Ogre known as Gigoliath began life alongside his brother Ostrozne as Ogres from the Kraja Isle. After a long sea voyage, they travelled to the Town of Jericho in the Grey Elven Forest. Over time, they amassed a clan known as the Brewlords that sought to be the bridge between the ‘greenskins’ and those others that saw them as merely vile monsters. The stories and rampant rumours regarding Gigoliath were as varied as they were numerous. Drink and dance with the purple Dragon. Battle and brutality in the face of an undying mammoth. Camaraderie and counsel with would-be monarchs and magistrates. Bitter betrayal over a blade that shimmered in the sunlight. Tragedy of kith and kin, choices foolish and fervent alike, and personal failures that threatened to undo the Ogre’s dream of a home for all Goblinoids. However, it was one story amongst the many that took Gigoliath from a Warchief of a small clan, to the High Warlord of countless ones.

During the War of Amaranthia in 2261, Warchief Grundella the Untangled of Clan Blackthorn—the then de facto leader of the Savage Legion—staggered into the Prism Discordia where the combined forces of Arthos made base. With age and the scars of near endless battle showing on her skin, her death knell was nigh. Her final wish was to die by the hands of one worthy to kill her, and the winner would control the Savage Legion. As this challenge was issued to Gigoliath, he accepted, and the honour duel ended in his favour. The Brewlord Clan raised Grundella’s body up on a black metal shield, carrying her to her clansfolk for burial rites with the resounding chant: “We carry. We fall. We rise.”

With this, the Amaranthine Legion was born, with the new High Warlord Gigoliath at its head.

From then on, Gigoliath sought to unite all clans he came across under the axe-banner of the Legion, calling for all wayward greenskins to flock to the Fortress City of Voynak in Amaranthia. With the mystical power of the Voynak the Uniter and the few other powerful Gözlemci, or ‘Watcher Spirits’, of the fortress, the Legion began to cement itself as a true nation of Goblinoids empowered by Goblinoids. For three long years most knowledge of Amaranthia went dark while the Legion sorted its affairs. During this time, it is said Gigoliath fathered a son with an unknown Orcish mate; an heir to the Throne of Warlords. The young boy has borne many monikers amongst his family and peers, such as Drehkthir and Ozros, but only once he has been blooded shall he choose a name for himself, as was the apparent wish of Gigoliath’s mate to honour the “oldest greenskin customs.”

Current Events

August 2267

When the nations of Maud’madir formed an alliance against the Hell King and his Temple of the Black Eclipse, the Amaranthine Legion sailed to bring death to the demonic hordes alongside them. Gigoliath and the Fallen Angel Ilya Oathbreaker of Voynak personally went as the vanguard of their forces, spearheading the Legion’s assault against the King of Demons.

May 2268

It was revealed to Arthos at large that the High Warlord’s son has seemingly defected to the rebellious banners of Urzahk the Banished, an exile once of Clan Blackthorn. Alongside the loss of the Gargylen people—including his adopted daughter Cora Lapideum—Gigoliath has entrusted the safe return of all of his “stolen kin” to the entirety of the Amaranthine Legion, and has demanded that the Conclave of Berphaunt and Urzahk pay for their individual crimes.
