Artificial Intelligence (AI) Tools Usage Policy

Purpose

This policy establishes guidelines for the responsible, transparent, and sustainable use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools within Underworld LARP. It aims to balance support for community artists and creators, operational efficiency for volunteers and staff, and continued growth and accessibility of the game.

Scope

This policy applies to Underworld Global staff, Guildmasters and local chapters, and contributors to official Underworld content.

Guiding Principles

  • Community First – Decisions prioritize community sustainability and engagement.
  • Support for Artists – Artists are a valued part of the Underworld experience.
  • Practical Resource Use – Efficiency tools may be used where appropriate.
  • Transparency – AI-generated content will be clearly identified.

Policy Statements

1. Use of AI Tools

AI tools may be used to support non-revenue-generating content where time or resource constraints would otherwise delay content creation. AI tools are intended to supplement, not replace, community contributions.

2. AI-Generated Artwork

  • May be used as temporary placeholder content
  • Must be clearly labeled as AI-generated
  • Must include a note indicating placeholder status
  • Must be eligible for replacement by approved community-created artwork

3. Community Artist Support

Underworld supports a community-driven artist funding initiative to enable compensation for non-revenue-generating creative work.

4. Commissioning and Compensation

  • Revenue-generating projects prioritize commissioned and local artists
  • Compensation is provided in monetary payment
  • In-game currency and/or blankets of experience will not be used for compensation

5. Credit and Recognition

  • All artwork must include proper artist credit
  • Optional links to portfolios or social media may be included with permission

6. Replacement of AI Content

  • AI-generated content is temporary
  • Approved community-created artwork may replace AI content at any time

Operational Considerations

Underworld operates with limited budgets and volunteer time. AI tools may be used to reduce workload where tasks would otherwise remain incomplete.

Enforcement and Governance

This policy is maintained by Underworld Global and may be updated based on community feedback and operational needs.
