Gods
The gods of light and darkness are determined by the moral ‘majority’, as dictated by the Church of Light. The Church, founded in the Kingdom of Tiefanue, has spread its churches and influence to almost every major city and port, in every major kingdom. They bring with them their own sense of morality and their own vision of which gods are good or light, and which are evil or dark. Those gods, approved by the Church, can be worshipped by any and all, inside universally compliant structures, all under the blanket title, The Church of Light. Individual churches to specific light gods are also known to exist but are more rare in number. Church doctrine recognizes that although some gods of light may dabble in darkness, their light supersedes. The Church, however, does not condone the use of dark magic by its mortal worshipers, regardless of what the gods may grant.
While the Church of Light’s reach is vast, its grasp does not extend everywhere. In many kingdoms and empires the worship of dark gods is allowed, generally with strict regulation, and in some it is even encouraged or the norm.

Savage Gods
New to this world the Savage Gods have yet to make their impact on the morality of light and dark. The Church of Light, the internationally accepted voice on theological matters, gives warning to those considering worship. The Church does not approve of their often uncouth and barbaric ways but has yet to deem them evil or dark in any official manner.

Aspects
Aspects are born from violent and intense concentrations of emotion left behind in a certain locations. These aspects grow and feed off a specific emotion as it is experienced by beings passing by. Unlike gods, who typically align themselves with a specific realm of influence (be it justice, peace, or victory in battle), Aspects are always focused on one specific, raw emotion (such as rage, hate or love). At birth, an Aspect will have no consciousness of its own; it will simply be a spirit of force based on the emotion that birthed it. As a young Aspect develops it will feed from the emotion it is aligned to, and which causes it to grow in power and strength. If an Aspect gains a group of followers who feed it the emotion daily, it will gain consciousness. Once sentience has been gained, it is possible for the Aspect to actively seek out more emotion to increase its power. Over time, Aspects may gain enough power to be considered by many to be Lesser God. Aspects can be starved of their base emotion, ultimately weakening them into a state of dormancy, but they will never truly die. Instead, they wait until enough of their base emotion is experienced by mortals and they are born again.
It is possible to ‘serve’ an Aspect like one would serve a God, although this is a rare phenomenon, and little is understood about the relationship between Aspect and servant.
