We’re thrilled to be able to show off our new website. We’ve been working towards this for a long time and are confident that it represents a great step forward in our growth as an organization of LARPers. We want to take an opportunity to write up some of the new features available on this website, some of the stuff we’ll be launching in the coming weeks, and some of the things we’re considering for the future.
What’s New?
The Underworld LARP Blog
We’ve learned a lot in the past few decades. We’ve learned a lot about how to run a LARP and how to participate in a LARP. We often share this information in posts and replies on the Underworld LARP facebook pages and groups, but now we’re going to take the time to put this information out there in a more structured way. Our website has historically been under-utilized in this regard, but now that’s going to change.
We’re coming up with a content strategy to help make our LARPing world a better place. Stay tuned in the coming weeks as we start to put more content up in our blog!
Better Rulebook Pages
LARP can be complicated. Our rulebooks are hundreds of pages of complex and well-structured information. The new rulebook page will display the download links for our rulebooks in PDF format, but we can now also put out other pieces of relevant information. The first page of this type is our Rulebook Errata.
A Better Store Experience
We’ve updated the functionality of our store. On checkout now you’ll be able to use more payment types. We’re also adding new products to to make it easier to unlock new characters or transfer characters between guilds.
Alerts
At the top of every page we have the ability to display relevant notices to our players. We’ll make it easier to get up-to-date information out to anyone who reads our site and engages with our community.
What’s Next?
Guild Pages
In order to help our guild masters with their marketing efforts, and to help new players find the closest or best guild for them, we’re going to be displaying full listings of our guilds on the new website. This will include contact info, location, guild descriptions and some promo pictures.
Advertising Opportunities
You’ll notice that most pages have one or two banner advertisements. We’re planning on selling advertising space on this site to members of our community or organizations relevant to LARP. Are you a crafter who makes items for fellow LARPers? Do you work for an up-and-coming con that is trying to increase ticket sales and wants to market directly to your target audience? We want to be able to help you with that. Stay tuned in the coming weeks as we fine tune this process and roll it out.
The Underworld LARP Community
We’ve already talked about our new blog, but that’s only the start of it! We want to give a voice to our community members. We’ll be opening up our platform to help amplify the voices of those in our community. Do you write instruction videos about how to make gear or do makeup? Are you an avid photographer who frequently takes pictures of LARPers? Do you have a YouTube channel and would you like to cross-post content to a different audience? We can help all of you. Anyone will be able to submit content, free of charge, and if it meets our editorial standards it’ll get posted on our website.
Once we’ve had a bit of time to ensure everything else with the new site is running smoothly we’ll be launching this new and exciting initiative.
This is just the beginning
We want to grow. We want to grow our business, our guilds, and our community. The great thing about that desire is that we all benefit from that growth. We’ll all benefit from having more guilds to visit. We’ll all benefit from having a more robust player-base. We’ll all benefit from learning more about all of the awesome folks we share this amazing hobby with.
